What is Rolfing®?

Rolfing® Structural Integration: Your Path to Ease and Freedom of Movement

Rolfing is a holistic method designed to bring the body back into balance. By using gentle manual techniques and specific movement and perception training, we release tension and unnecessary stress, promoting a more natural alignment and fluid movement.

At the core of Rolfing is the treatment of connective tissue, known as fascia, which connects and stabilizes all structures in the body. Fascia provides support while allowing muscles and organs to glide smoothly against one another. However, stress, injuries, and inefficient movement patterns can cause the fascia to “stick” together, leading to restrictions and discomfort. Rolfing® works to loosen these adhesions, restoring natural movement and alignment.

When our posture is compromised by injury, stress, or unhealthy movement habits, the entire musculoskeletal system must compensate, often leading to chronic tension and pain. Common issues such as jaw tension from stress, carpal tunnel syndrome from repetitive work, whiplash from accidents, and sports injuries can all be effectively addressed with Rolfing.

Rolfing was developed over 50 years ago by Dr. Ida P. Rolf, who drew on her extensive knowledge of biochemistry, yoga, and osteopathy when she designed her method of Structural Integration. Her structured series of 10 sessions focuses on different areas of the body to create lasting change. However, individual sessions can also be tailored to your specific needs, without committing to a full series.

Experience how Rolfing can transform your body, bringing greater balance, comfort, and freedom in movement.
